Hi! I’m Heather!
|
Heather Latakas (she/her) has been dancing since she was four years old, performing and competing all styles of dance. She attended the Ann Lacy School of Dance and Entertainment at Oklahoma City University, where she performed in three annual shows, and honed her technique, as well as her skills as a choreographer and teacher. She graduated with a Bachelor of Performing Arts.

Since graduating, Heather has been teaching and choreographing for studios in the Chicago and Milwaukee area, as well as teaching at intensives and assisting in classes on tour with Chicago Tap Theatre. Heather deeply enjoys helping students reach their full potential and fall in love with dance! Also, Heather has had the opportunity to act as a judge for multiple dance competitions across the country. Heather has had the opportunity to perform in concert dance all over Chicago, including the Dance Chicago festival, “Emergence” with Alluvian Dance Chicago, and Dance Divas.
Heather is currently a Senior Company Member with Chicago Tap Theatre, under the direction of Mark Yonally. Heather can be seen in performances throughout Chicago. Additionally, Heather tours with the CTT all over the country, as well as internationally. She has had the opportunity to choreograph and present her work in Chicago and on tour. During her time with Chicago Tap Theatre, Heather has been able to learn from and perform work created by leading tap dancers in the industry, including Brenda Bufalino, Heather Cornell, Sam Weber, Lisa LaTouche, Martin “Tre” Dumas, Star Dixon, Mark Yonally and Sterling Harris. Heather also has the privilege to be a part of the Chicago Tap Allstars, a collective of tap dancers in Chicago. With CTA, Heather has had the opportunity to perform in Holiday shows and be featured in Chicago’s prestigious Dance For Life in 2023 and 2025. |
