Hi! I’m Melissa!

Ms. Melissa has been dancing since the age of 2 and is originally from Lake Villa, IL. She has trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, hip hop, and was also a gymnast for 14 years. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in Athletic Training and obtained her Master’s in Health Education with an emphasis on Health Promotion, Fitness Management, and a Certificate in Global Health and Humanitarian Studies. She has performed recreationally, competitively, and collegiately throughout her dance career.

Growing up, Melissa participated annually in the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters where she took classes from professional choreographers and was tested in her ballet, tap, and jazz skills. She was on the UNI Dance Team where she competed at the UDA Nationals in Disney. The team made it to the finals in both their Jazz and Pom routines. Melissa was an active member of the UNI Orchesis Dance Company for 6 years and has been accepted five times to represent UNI and attend the American College Dance Association annual conference. In summer of 2017, she was accepted into the College/Pro summer intensive at the Gus Giordano Dance School in Chicago, IL. She is an alumni of Shine Bright where she received high standing awards in competition and became a First Place Grand National Champion at the Hall of Fame Dance Challenge. She is very ecstatic to be back, share her passion for dance, and push her students beyond their excellence.
